"My year with the foundation...
...was a year of learning in the monthly workshops about topics from self esteem, prioritizing and saving money to learning to work with a group of women. It was a year of fun starting with the back to school bar-b-que and the many volunteer/community service activities to name a few, the Challenge Air event, where a beautiful relationship began with my best friend Stephanie. Toys for Tots, North Texas Food Bank, and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure are all activities that were great bonding experiences.
I do admit that coming into this foundation I thought that it would be all about giving us financial support but I have learned that you will receive much more by giving back instead of just receiving. You never really learn about yourself and others when you just receive things all the time. This was also a great opportunity for the kids to have fun as well, even though my kids were too young to be in the All-Pro program (which is great!) they have gained role models who will support and be there for them. Like we all have said the foundation is our extended family.
I can honestly say that a year a ago I was not the strong and mature woman that I am today, I was a weak and fragile young lady because of some of the things in life that I had gone through. With help from the foundation and the other mom's I have learned that we all have been through rough times and to see mom's learn and come out of their situations was a blessing to know that I can break through and be alright too.
To the Roy Williams Safety Net Foundation your support for the mom's and their children is awesome, I couldn't thank you guys enough for extending yourselves to help us grow in so many ways."
